Our Story: From Big Idea to Big Impact
It all started with a simple yet powerful question:
What if every conversation in education was a coaching conversation?
For our founder, Julie Keyes, coaching wasn’t just another CPD initiative - it was a game-changer. After years in education, leadership, and consultancy, she saw firsthand how coaching could empower teachers, transform school cultures, and improve outcomes for staff and students alike.
Armed with this vision, she set out to make coaching accessible, impactful, and embedded into the way schools operate. What started as one-to-one coaching sessions quickly grew into structured programmes, school-wide initiatives, and a movement that is reshaping professional development in education.
Now, The Educational Coach works with schools and educators across the UK, Europe, and the Middle East, delivering expert coaching, training, and consultancy. Our signature Every Conversation Programme has helped schools embed a coaching culture, and our Coach in Residence model ensures long-term, sustainable impact.

We believe that coaching can support
every teacher in every conversation
Education thrives when the people within it feel supported, confident, and equipped to grow. Yet too often, teachers, leaders, and coaches are left to navigate challenges alone - without the right support, conversations, or tools to unlock their potential.
At The Educational Coach, we believe coaching is the key to sustainable change. Whether you’re a school looking to embed a coaching culture, an educator seeking professional growth, or a coach wanting to develop your skills, we’re here to support you.

The HELP Method ®
At The Educational Coach, we believe that coaching shouldn’t be confined to formal sessions - it should be part of how schools communicate, collaborate, and grow. That’s why we developed The HELP Method, a simple but powerful approach to embedding coaching into the everyday culture of education.
The HELP Method is designed to take schools and individuals from first exposure to full integration, ensuring that coaching isn’t just understood—it’s lived.
H
Hook – Capture Attention & Shift Mindsets
Great coaching starts with buy-in. Before people can engage in coaching, they need to see its value, feel its impact, and understand how it fits into their world.
-
We hook staff with real-life examples, success stories, and immersive experiences.
-
We disrupt traditional thinking about leadership, development, and communication.
-
We spark curiosity and enthusiasm for coaching as a way of working.
E
Experience – Feel the Power of Coaching Firsthand
Coaching isn’t something you understand by reading about it - it’s something you feel. That’s why The HELP Method prioritises experiential learning.
-
Staff engage in live coaching conversations to see the impact immediately.
-
Leaders experience coaching as participants, gaining insight into its power.
-
Teams see coaching in action through practical demonstrations and real-life scenarios.
L
Learn – Build Knowledge & Develop Coaching Skills
Once the impact is felt, we move into structured learning - giving staff and leaders the tools and techniques to integrate coaching into their daily practice.
-
We teach core coaching principles - active listening, questioning, and reflection.
-
We equip staff with frameworks and strategies to use in different situations.
-
We ensure learning is tailored - so it feels relevant to schools, teams, and individuals.
P
Practise – Embed Coaching Into Everyday Conversations
Coaching only becomes a way of being when it’s applied consistently. The final stage of The HELP Method is all about practising, refining, and embedding coaching into everyday conversations.
-
Staff practise coaching with structured support and feedback.
-
Leaders apply coaching techniques in meetings, conversations, and decision-making.
-
Schools build coaching habits that create long-term cultural change.
